“Of you my heart speaks: ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, LORD, do I seek.”
Psalm 27:8

The Holy Face Devotion of Jesus is a beautiful Catholic devotion centered on honoring and contemplating the face of Christ, especially as it was disfigured in His Passion and revealed in moments of His love and mercy.

This devotion traces its roots to 19th-century France, particularly through the revelations received by Sister Mary of St. Peter, who promoted reparation for sins that offend God, and later through the spirituality of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, who embraced the Holy Face as a source of love, trust, and deep union with Jesus. It is also inspired by the tradition of the Veil of Veronica, where Christ’s face is believed to have been miraculously imprinted on a cloth during His journey to Calvary.

At its heart, the Holy Face Devotion invites the faithful to:

  • Contemplate the suffering and love of Christ
  • Make acts of reparation for sin and indifference in the world
  • Grow in humility, trust, and deeper intimacy with Jesus
  • Offer prayerful consolation to the Heart of Christ

Many who practice this devotion spend time in silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, recite prayers such as the Holy Face prayers of reparation, and meditate on the Passion of Christ.

At our parish, Holy Face Devotion takes place every Thursday at 6:00 PM, offering a dedicated time of prayer, adoration, and reflection on the face of Our Lord.

If you want, I can also rewrite this in a shorter “bulletin announcement” style or a more formal parish webpage tone.
