Confirmation

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses.”
— Acts 1:8

The Sacrament of Confirmation is a sacred moment in which Catholics receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in a special way, strengthening their faith and empowering them to live as courageous witnesses of Christ in the world. Through Confirmation, young people and adults are equipped to embrace their role as active members of the Church and to deepen their relationship with God, fully participating in the life of the Church.

Preparation for Confirmation at St. Cecilia Parish is coordinated through our Director of Religious Education. Children are asked to complete one full year of religious instruction—either through our Catholic schools or the Parish School of Religion (PSR)—prior to the year in which they will celebrate this Sacrament. All 8th grade school/PSR students receive their confirmation by the Bishop of Covington in January of each year.
Adults who are seeking to enter the Catholic Church or who have not yet received the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) are invited to participate in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). This process is a journey of faith, learning, and spiritual growth, designed to help individuals deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and come to a fuller understanding of the teachings of the Church.

Through regular gatherings, prayer, and formation, participants are gradually prepared to receive the Sacraments, typically at the Easter Vigil. OCIA is open to those who have never been baptized, those baptized in another Christian tradition, and baptized Catholics who have not yet completed their Sacraments. Our parish community walks alongside each participant, offering guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the journey.

Adults interested in learning more about OCIA or beginning this process are encouraged to contact the parish office for more information.

We look forward to walking with families and adult candidates as they prepare to receive this special Sacrament of grace, empowerment, and commitment to Christ.
