Baptism
The origin and foundation of Christian Baptism is Jesus Christ. Before beginning His public ministry, He humbly received baptism from John the Baptist. It was not the waters that purified Him; rather, through His presence, He sanctified the waters. Jesus had no need to be baptized for He was perfectly faithful to the will of His Father and completely free from sin. Yet, in His great love, He chose to stand in solidarity with humanity, so that He might reconcile us to the Father. By later commanding His disciples to baptize all nations, Jesus established a beautiful and life-giving sacrament. Through Baptism, we die to sin—both original and personal—and are reborn into a new life with God.
In Baptism, we are made temples of the Holy Spirit who gently calls us to holiness and awakens our hearts to Christ’s presence. We are invited to walk in His light, to trust in His wisdom, and to grow each day in love. With open hearts, we are drawn ever closer to Him, learning to live in the peace and grace of His embrace.
